Linens – Do not start setting your charming Maxwell and Williams Cashmere collection yet. First, decide whether you will go with a placemat or will cover the table with an elegant table cloth. Placemats give that chic and modern look, whereas linen tablecloths add a special charm and elegance to a formal dinner setting. If your choice falls on placemats, try to use napkins that match the colour and the pattern of your placemats. Napkins should either be placed underneath forks from the left side of the placemat or over the plate.

China and Glasses – Bring simplicity and elegance to your table with Maxwell and Williams Cashmere dinner set. First take out the large platters on which you plan to serve the main dish. Put the plates in the center of each place setting. Glasses and cutlery sets will be placed according to these platters. Glasses for example go on the upper right hand side. It would be ideal to include a water glass, a red and white wine glass and in some cases, a champagne glass. All that depends on the wine you plan to serve. Not sure where to place your water glass? Normally in a formal dinner settings, the water glass goes few centimeters above the dinner knife. Wine glasses on the other hand, go more on the outside.

Cutlery – It’s a rule of a thumb to set utensils in the order they are served. According to this rule, the appetizer fork should be furthest from the main dinner plate. Four-letter word utensils go on the left side of the plate, whereas five-letter ones (knives and spoons) on the right. That’s the easiest way to remember. The bottom of the utensils should be leveled evenly with the bottom rim of the service plate. Make sure the blade side of the knife is facing the plate. That’s just for safety reasons to avoid cutting yourself.

Spacing – As you are setting your table, remember to place things one thumb nail length away from the bottom of the table. That’s like a rule of a thumb if you want to keep things neat. You will no longer have messy place setting ever again.

Infuse Nature – If you want to bring colour to your table setting, then you should consider putting some fresh flowers in the center of the table. Flowers as centerpieces create fresh and organic vibe that everyone needs during a dinner time.

Wish your guests a bon appetite with the right table setting.
