Although made to last for years, if not treated and cared for properly, leather bags can get damaged and without any purpose. In addition, leather bags have the ability to age gracefully and that makes them even more distinct and unique. And depending on the price, womens leather bags can be considered a real investment. So to help preserve your investment, here are few care tips that will keep your bag looking like new for years.

  • Make sure you always store your leather bag in a dust bag when not using. If you do not have a dust bag, use a soft, cotton pillow case. Whatever you do, never store your leather bag in a plastic bag.
  • To keep the shape of your bag, stuff it with your scarves, just make sure you do not to over-stuff it.
  • Use your less favourite handbag in bad weather and when raining.
  • To avoid stains, keep your cosmetic products and pens in pouches inside the bag.
  • Never handle your leather bag with dirty hands, especially not after you have applied beauty products, such as foundation or a cream.
  • Use a good quality leather protector spray to clean dry leather. This will protect your bag material from drying out and cracking over time. It will also reduce the chances of your bag getting stained.
  • If your bag gets dirty, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Avoid leather cleaners that include oils to clean natural leather bags. Cleaning oils tend to trap moisture and dirt, which can cause stain on your bag.
  • Unfortunately, ink marks, grease and oil stains are not removable, thus it’s best not to try to remove them.
  • If your leather bag gets stained, bring it to a professional leather cleaner.
  • Once in a month, empty your bag and with a lint roller collect the dust accumulated over time. Remove interior stains with soap and water (if any) and allow your bag to completely dry before using it again.

By following these cleaning tips you will not only be able to maintain your investment for longer, but also ensure that you have a stylish and perfectly-looking leather bag.
