The jib cranes are machines designed for lifting and moving different kinds of loads. In general, their working principle is pretty simple – a boom that can rotate is attached to a mast or on a wall. Compact and highly efficient, the jib crane is used in many industry sectors, like construction and most commonly in production or manufacturing facilities where large and heavy loads need to be moved from one location to another. There are different jib crane models on the market, and every crane comes with specific lifting capacity and configuration. So, when on the market for a jib crane, look for a model that will suit your needs in the most efficient manner. Check our tips for choosing the right jib crane:

  • Specify the purpose why you need a jib crane – Are you looking for a jib crane for light or heavy lifting tasks? By specifying your needs, you will be able to select the right jib crane. This is important because different jib crane models are installed and operated differently.
  • Wall-mounted or floor-mounted? – As mentioned above, there are different jib cranes on the market. The wall-mounted and the floor-mounted jib crane models are most commonly used. Your selection should be based on how much space you have in your production or manufacturing facility. For example, the wall-mounted jib crane is recommended if you have a limited floor space, while the floor-mounted jib crane is ideal for big facilities where the space is not an issue.
  • Determine the jib crane height you need – The height or the distance from the floor is usually stated in two ways: Overall Height which shows the distance from the floor to the highest point of the boom, and Height Under Boom which is described as self explanatory.
  • Installation process– Each jib crane is installed in different way. For example, the floor-mounted jib crane is usually installed on a solid concrete foundation which allows the crane to lift and move heavy items. Strong walls supported with concrete or steel structure are need for proper installation of wall-mounted jib cranes. Choose a jib crane by having in mind how your warehouse or manufacturing facility is constructed.

Even though every jib crane has its own characteristics, it can be modified for a specific purpose. Customization is a big benefit, especially for the warehouses or production facilities where specific lifting tasks are performed.
