Makeup is art. It allows you to play with different looks and alternate your whole appearance. While some love to glam things up with bold and intense makeup, others prefer to keep it minimal.

Minimal makeup can totally elevate your style and enhance your entire appearance without seeming too obvious that you’re wearing it. It’s very simple and easy to do, and you don’t need to have perfect skills to create a soft and natural look. You’d be surprised at how big of a difference something as simple as quality mineral blush natural in composition can make for your face.

The secret is in the ingredients as much as in the application. Here are our best tips on what to use and how to apply minimal makeup for an everyday look.

What Do I Need to Create a Natural Makeup Look?

If you’re tight on time and you want something easy and quick, simple and natural-looking makeup will do the job. You will need only a few products to achieve a dewy and fresh-looking skin complexion. A moisturizer, face foundation, natural face blush, eyebrow shadow, mascara, lip balm and lipstick are essentials you need for a natural makeup look.

Prep Your Skin

This is the most important part of laying your makeup evenly and smoothly, without looking cakey. The “cakey look” is something many women struggle with. First, you want to moisturize your skin with a suitable natural moisturizer. If your skin is dry, the makeup will appear patchy and flaky. Go through your usual skincare routine and always make sure to finish with an SPF. Protecting your skin from the sun plays a huge role in how well your skin ages. Sun protection will help you retain the elasticity and plumpness.

Use a General Coverage or a Concealer

The next step is to use general coverage that conceals well all of your problematic areas. If you’re not fond of full-face coverage, you can use concealer only on the spots where you feel like you want to mask the flaws.

The shade of the foundation should be close to your skin tone. If you’re unsure if a certain shade is the right one for your complexion, compare the colour of the coverage to the colour of your skin on the neck. If the shade doesn’t appear too dark or too bright in comparison to the tone of this area, then it should be just the right colour.

BB cream is another option. It’s generally a lighter texture than a typical face foundation and it evens out the skin tone just as well. Additionally, many BB creams contain SPF ingredients, so you get extra protection.

Opt for Natural Face Blush

The right shade of face blush is the perfect touch for natural-looking makeup. Using earthy tones will add radiance to the skin, without looking too obvious that you’re wearing makeup. Face blush can completely elevate your look and add a visual lift to your face. When you go for a natural look, always reach for a neutral shade that will softly accentuate your cheekbones.

If you want natural and skin-friendly ingredients, organic and natural or mineral makeup may be the right choice for you. There is a wide array of blush natural in consistency that have a powdery or buttery smooth formula, so they lay perfectly on any skin type.

If you’re vegan and you’re looking for vegan makeup free of animal ingredients, there are many vegan natural blushes and brushes nowadays. Many companies have started to care more about animals and want to contribute to their well-being. Ok, once we have settled the basics of blush, it’s time to learn how to properly apply it. The placement of the blush can actually change your face completely and can either break or make your natural look.

Take an angled brush or use the side of your regular brush and tap gently several times onto the blush to pick up some of the product. Tap off any excess before applying it to your cheekbones. Start taping the blush with the side of the brush you used to pick up the colour. Tap lightly onto the apples of the cheeks, right at the centre.

To add a lift to your face, apply the face blush starting at the highest point of the cheekbones (where you would usually use a highlighter) and blend by transitioning onto the “contour” area of the cheekbones. Using a face blush will define your beautiful features, and create a soft and luminous look without looking like you’ve spent too much time into perfecting it.

Fill in The Eyebrows

Eyebrows are a determining factor in whether your makeup looks natural. If you want to create a natural and effortless look, don’t fill in your eyebrows too much. To create a natural look, use a clear eyebrow gel, eyebrow powder or eyebrow mascara, or you can also use eye shadow.

This will create a much softer look that will match perfectly the rest of your makeup. If you feel your eyebrows are still looking unfinished, you can go on and use your eyebrow pencil to complete the look.

Use Eye Mascara

Using a little bit of eye mascara will elevate your face and help you create a fresh look. If you want to lift your lashes more, use an eyelash primer before the mascara.

However, you don’t want to use too much mascara because it will look too intense. Also, you don’t want to capture all the attention just to your eyes. The idea is to create a soft and natural look by accentuating the facial features, without going overboard with the makeup.

Hydrate Your Lips

Plumped and luscious-looking lips start with hydration. You want to avoid dry and patchy lips if you want to look polished and put together. Look for a hydrating lip balm containing ingredients such as shea butter, vitamin E, jojoba, aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, almond oil and ceramides.

Apply Lipstick in a Nude Colour

Using nude shades of lipstick is best if you’re trying to keep your makeup look minimal. The nude shade will give your lips a finished look, without drawing too much attention to your mouth. It slightly enhances your lips and will complement your entire makeup.

Apply Face Spray to Set Your Makeup

And lastly, you can use a facial mist or spray to help you keep the makeup in place. If you have a long day ahead, your makeup can wear off after a few hours. If you don’t have time for touch-ups, finishing off with a setting spray will help lock everything to help you feel confident in your makeup.
